PLEASE READ THE DECEMBER 2006 EDITION (VOL. 6: ISSUE 24) OF THE BELLTOWER BEACON TO READ THE LATEST ON WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ST. CHRISTOPHER CHURCH CONCERNING THE RENOVATION PROJECT. THINGS SEEM TO BE ON HOLD FOR NOW. IT IS DISAPPOINTING THAT THE TALLY OF HOW MANY PARISHIONERS WERE FOR OR AGAINST THE PROPOSALS WERE NOT DISCLOSED. ONE MAY DEDUCE FROM THE ARTICLE THAT ENOUGH PEOPLE WERE AGAINST MOVING THE TABERNACLE AND PLACING THE BAPTISMAL FONT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AISLE THAT THOSE CHANGES TO THE INSIDE OF THE CHURCH MAY NOT COME ABOUT. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE WALL BEHIND THE SANCTUARY, THE BEAUTIFUL MOSAICS THAT ARE ON THAT WALL AND THE SIDE ALTARS OF MARY AND JOSEPH. HOPEFULLY, THEY WILL REMAIN INTACT. PLEASE PRAY THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT GUIDES ALL WHO ARE ON THE ART & ARCHITECTURE COMMITTEE WHEN THEY OFFER THEIR REVISED PROPOSALS NEXT YEAR.

Bishop Lennon was reportedly very upset with his visit to St. Noel parish in Willoughy Hills telling the pastor it "looks like a Protestant church."

Keep the bishop in your loop and St. Chris will be safe for the next twenty years.

I hope that this is true, because I heard from someone who is planning a wedding in 2008, that the pastor said that the church would be torn up for renovation during that year. The silence from our rectory is deafening. I think it may be time that we all write to the Bishop about protestantizing our Church.

I would like the names and addresses of the entire chain of command, up to the Cardinal, so that I can send to them letters and post cards protesting this desecration. I think that post cards of the interiors of beautiful Catholic Cathedrals around the world would have the best effect. And the commentary, "Please don't turn this beautiful Church into another dismal protestant immitation."

Tonight, May 2, 2007, the local chapter of Voice of the Faithful is scheduled to screen a PBS documentary called "Hand of God" in the atrium of St. Christopher Church. While VOTF has many well-meaning members, parishioners should be cautioned that the founders, leaders and fellow-travelers of Voice of the Faithful include many dissenters who have publicly opposed Church teaching on a range of issues including contraception (see ¶2366 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church), homosexuality (see CCC ¶2357), and Holy Orders (see CCC ¶1577). For more information, see: http://www.catholicity.com/
commentary/hudson/voiceofthefaithful.html

Some of this dissent may come out in the documentary. Let's hope the children are safely home in bed.
